This is the real thing — proper mountain terrain, not a guided stroll. Two days out in Eryri, routes chosen on the day depending on conditions and the group, with Grade 1 scrambling where the weather allows it. You’ll sleep both nights in a mountaineering hut in the woods above Betws-y-Coed, one of the best-placed outdoor towns in the country.
You don’t need previous mountain experience to come on this. You do need to be reasonably fit, two consecutive days on your feet in the hills is a real physical ask, and we’d rather you knew that going in than found out on day two. If you’ve done the Readiness Quiz, your results will tell you exactly where you stand. If not do it now and find out!
Led throughout by Dave, Two Suns Co. founder and Mountain Leader, fifteen-plus years leading expeditions.
Highlights
- Two full days guided in the mountains of Eryri, walking and scrambling where conditions allow
- Grade 1 scrambling, technical enough to feel like a real achievement, no climbing experience required
- Two nights in a mountaineering hut above Betws-y-Coed
- Small group, 1:6 this is a small expedition, not a coach tour
- A 1:1 pre-trip call to set your own objective for the weekend, and a post-trip debrief afterward
- Breakfast and dinner provided both days
Itinerary
Friday — Arrive at the hut in the evening. Kit check, briefing, meet the group.
Saturday — Full day in the mountains. Route confirmed that morning depending on weather and the group’s pace. Back to the hut for dinner.
Sunday — Second day of walking, and exploring , then departure in the afternoon.
Exact routes are confirmed on the day, that’s deliberate. Eryri’s weather changes fast, and going in with the right route for the actual conditions matters more than sticking to a plan made a week out.

FAQs
What is Grade 1 scrambling? The most accessible grade — using your hands and feet on steep rocky ground, no ropes involved. More committing than hiking, well within reach of anyone reasonably fit.
What if the weather’s bad? Routes are confirmed on the day based on conditions, that might mean a different route, not necessarily an easier one. If we have to cancel the trip entirely for safety reasons, you’re refunded in full.
Why is this “apply” rather than “book”? This is a small first trip and we want to make sure it’s the right fit both ways. Applying doesn’t commit you to anything, we’ll be in touch to see if its the right trip for you and confirm the final details.
What’s the food situation? Breakfast and dinner are provided at the hut both days. Bring your own snacks and lunch for out on the hill.
Do I need my own transport? Yes, you’ll need to make your own way to and from Betws-y-Coed, and from the hut to our start/finish point each day. Full details as part of the pre-trip briefing once your place is confirmed.
